Newton Drive
Newmains

Oliver and Robb Architects and McTaggart Construction are working on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council to redevelop the site at the former St Brigid’s Primary School on Newton Drive, Newmains. We wish to seek feedback from the local community before submitting a Planning Application in early summer 2025.

We wish to consult with the local community on proposals for a development comprising around 33 affordable homes for social rent. The properties will be low rise and in the form of cottage flats, semi-detached and terraced homes with a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed dwellings.
The houses will add to NLC's existing rental housing stock and form part of the ambitious Plan for North Lanarkshire, which includes providing 6000 new affordable homes for rent by 2035.

A public consultation event will be held on
Thursday 15 May 2025 between 4pm – 7pm
at :- Newmains and St Brigid’s Community Hub

This will be a drop in session with visitors able to attend at any time between the stated times on the day. In addition to the public consultation an online exhibition is available for viewing. The material used for the online consultation will match the information that will be available at the Public Meeting on 15 May.

To assist consultation, a feedback form has been included and, along with set questions, there is sufficient space to provide any other comments with the proposal. The feedback form will close on Thursday 22 May.
The proposals for this development have not been finalised – the site layouts and elevations included in the Proposals section have been prepared to demonstrate how the site could be developed.
The consultation material has been developed to provide information on the potential development at Newton Drive. All comments and feedback will be reviewed and considered prior to the Planning Application being submitted to North Lanarkshire Council. When the Planning Application is subsequently submitted to North Lanarkshire Council, neighbour notification will be undertaken at that time by the Council and you will have the opportunity to make formal representations regarding the proposal at that time.
